We started and ended in 2006, or so we thought. After months of searching for a new vocalist and drummer, both Travis Zumstein and Jeremy Koering decided to give the band 6-months, if God hadn't brought it together, they bury The Set Apart for good.
Despite nearing the end of the 6-months, God showed us we weren't supposed to be done. He brought to attention one afternoon that the band needed to be started.
That night when I got home there was an email from my friend John, saying he felt like he was supposed to be in a band, it was funny because I was just on the phone with Travis asking if he'd be willing to start up again. With John in, the search was to find a new drummer. A couple days later on Tuesday, I asked Kyle if he would be interested, only to hear from John saying that on Sunday he felt like we should ask Kyle. Clearly God was in control of the new band.
With that, the band was formed. We are now writing new music and beginning to practice. The new music is heavily influenced on ideas from C.S. Lewis, themed on trials, grief, and God's grace and timing.
With the new band, it gives us a chance to start over, musically and lyrically. Something that is opening doors to lots of creativity and room to grow...we're planning a late-summer/early-fall youth group tour, more info to be announced soon.
